The Campaign

Scouting in central Indiana today is creative, customized and cutting-edge to serve kids growing up in many different worlds and cultures. Problem is, there’s not enough capacity, nor the right kind of capacity, to meet all the need.

But now, with your help, we can implement a smart, well-conceived plan to expand and tailor this through the More Scouts. More Ways. More Impact. Campaign.

This $16 million, three-strategy plan has been carefully constructed by prominent local volunteers to help Scouting “be prepared” for different kinds of kids from many different parts of a fast-changing world.

Strategy 1: Bring customized programs to settings where young people have tremendous needs

If Scouting is to make the difference that’s so desperately needed, it needs to be as varied as the young people and communities that could benefit from Scouting.

Central Indiana’s ScoutReach program is bringing a new brand of highly customized Scouting to economically strapped urban and rural areas, to families from many kinds of backgrounds, and whose cultural and language differences must be addressed, and to kids and families with special needs.

Strategy 2: Adapt and maintain a strategically tiered camp network

Camping builds character, self-confidence and camaraderie.

For central Indiana to serve many kinds of Scouts from many kinds of backgrounds, it needs a well-designed, well-maintained network of camps — challenging places for experienced Scouts; less-threatening places for first-time campers; and a rookie-level camp for the youngest Scouts.

With your help, we can implement a well-planned series of improvements that will enable more Scouts from more diverse backgrounds and levels of experience to reap the proven benefits of camp.

Strategy 3: Improve access so more youth and families can participate in Scouting

Even the best Scouting program won’t succeed if it’s not easily accessible and convenient. Right now, antiquated technology and a landlocked downtown training center is costing us volunteers, parental involvement and regional participation which are crucial to serving Scouts and our community.

Our new Scouting Education and Program Center, coupled with enhanced online access, will help parents and volunteers follow through on their desire to help the next generation of Scouts.

With your help, we can provide better access to Scouting in person and electronically.
